Registration for PlayVS High School Spring League is NOW OPEN!
Calling all High School age eSports players! Registration for the 2022 PlayVS Spring Rocket League season is now open – Starting on February 2nd, join Special Olympics programs from across the US who will be participating in the inaugural Special Olympics Unified eSports Spring season, and we’d like to invite all UCS high school students to participate in this incredible opportunity to continue the Unified movement through the platform of eSports!
Teams of three students (two Special Olympics Illinois athletes and one Unified Partner) from the same school will go head to head against other high schools from across the county in the video game Rocket League – which is a soccer-like game with rocket powered cars. Matches will take place on Wednesday afternoons at 3 PM CST, all at no cost to the athletes or schools participating. The league will conclude on Wednesday, April 27 with the championship game taking place that day. In the fall, Limestone High School took home the runner-up trophy for their efforts – and we have no doubt that Illinois will continue to work hard and take home even more hardware this season!
This attached flyer covers much of the details stated above, but all interested high school programs can visit this link which provides more information on the steps to register and get involved in the league itself! The first 100 teams that register will receive a FREE Unified eSports t-shirt for their entire team.
If access to equipment is a barrier for your school, Special Olympics Illinois offers multiple avenues to cover the cost of eSports equipment – including the UCS Outreach Opportunities and the eSports Lending Library. It is our upmost priority to ensure that every participant has ample access to participate.
